Munich Marriott, Hilton, Crown Plaza, or Sheraton? Anyone know these hotels?
I'm looking for a hotel for 1 night in March at the end of a trip to Bavaria. The Munich Marriott website had a special weekend rate of $115 if I book on-line. The other hotels are a bit more. Not worried about price for 1 night, just want a place close enough to city center so we can explore for the 1 day. Any thoughts on any of these? Has anyone stayed at this Marriott? <BR> <BR>Thanks!

Hi PC, <BR>this is what I`ve replied to an earlier question concerning hotels in Munich: <BR> <BR>"depending on which day of the week you plan to be there I can highly recommend the Munich Marriott. It´s very easy to find and it`s near Schwabing, where all the good restaurants and bars are. To get to Marienplatz you can take the U-Bahn and it only takes ca. 10 minutes. The rooms are comfortable and they serve excellent breakfast. For your <BR>return to the airport the next morning there´s no better place to stay: it´s situated aside a road that leads you directly (5 min.) to the Autobahn to Franz-Josef-Strauss Airport. They <BR>have special weekend rates (double 180 DM).During the week it´s more expensive because it´s a very popular place for business people" <BR> <BR>Have fun <BR> <BR>Miriam

I've stayed at Four Points Sheraton Central - the rooms are small and I thought it was overpriced and overrated. No in-room safe, and no breakfast. It was clean, and the staff was professional but nothing special. One positive is that the room had a nice balcony. There are so many better hotels in Munchen.

We have stayed several times at the munich city Hilton and found it very nice. Great location - rosenheimer PLatz. We take the Sbahn right for the airport to Rosenheimer PLatz - get off and take escalot upstairs. Do not have to go outside if weather is bad! Also have underground shopping at this stop. Then it's only 2 stops to marienplatz on any Sbahn ( heading in the right direction). (there are 2 Hiltons - so make sure you get the City Hilton at Rosenheimer PLatz) Munich is one of our favorite cities.

I can vouch for all the comments made by Miriam about the Munich Marriott. It is quite nice and very easy to get to all the sights from there. They do run some very good rate sales, we stayed there a couple of years ago for $90 US and it was ideal for us.

Wilma, are you talking about he same Sheraton than PC? I stayed at the Sheraton Munich- Hotel and Towers (off Arabellastrasse 6) and the rooms were HUGE and the breakfast was FABULOUS! This Sheraton hotel has one of the largest convention halls in Munich and right across the street there was a train station that takes you direct to the Munich centre. <BR><BR>PC, are you driving? The Sheraton is located close to a quick exit on to the Autobahn (about 30-40 minutes to the airport).

Have stayed at Marriott a few times. It is not in downtown Muchen..but is only a short taxi ride. I did not mind the Marriott..It was plenty adequate and comfortable. I would stay there again without any hesitation. I am sure there are a lot of other places..but the Marriott is nice and quiet and clean.

I know you probably want to choose one of those you named, but I would like to mention my favorite little hotel in Munich---the Hotel Admiral, just southeast of the downtown and an easy walk to Marienplatz. It has its own on-site basement parking, too, if you are driving. It's easy to find just off the ring road that runs along the river.<BR>And best of all, great breakfast buffet and a wonderful, accommodating staff.
