You will like the Uhland hotel that is a 10 minute walk from the train station. It is also close to a U-bahn station that will get you wherever you want to go in Munich. Check www.hotel-uhland.de

I've stayed at Hotel Jedermann twice (in 2001 and 2004--during Oktoberfest) and found it to be very pleasant. Great staff, English speaking, and very accomodating. I've never had any problems with the 'station seedyness' I've heard of, either.
Hotel Jedermann has a great breakfast, too--and free internet at the lobby computer, for emails home! The rooms may be on the small side, but they're a good value, considering prices of other hotels in the area.
Check out http://www.hotel-jedermann.de/english/, or google Hotel Jedermann for more reviews.
Have fun!
