moving to Ireland
We will be moving to Donegal Town in June. Our flight will deliver us to Shannon, where we will rent a car, drive to a suggested point the first day, drive into DT the second day to get a landing mark and then return the car to Sligo airport on the third day. We are hoping our plan to buy a car will be finalized before we arrive in DT. We need help in determining how far to drive on arrival day. We visited Ireland last Sept. and drove to Galway. We would like to make it further. Does anyone have suggestions and a B&B to stay in between Galway and Sligo?

Tubbercurry would be a reasonable place to stop for the night. Cruckawn House is sign posted at the square, comfortable, quiet, and an award winner. -- www.sligotourism.com/cruckawn -- A little way off the N17 on the R294.

Can you tell us the length of time you think it would take to drive from Shannon to Tubbercurry and we will calculate in the stops?
This is all such a switch since we thought we would be placed in Northern Ireland and now the posting will be in Dunkineely. If you have traveled in this area, we would appreciate any information you think would be helpful.
Thanks!

Try using the route planner at:
www.aaroadwatch.ie
It is about 115 miles from the airport to Tobercurry, Co. Sligo. aaroadwatch says driving time is 2 hours and 4 minutes. If you plan on 3 hours, you'll be closer to accurrate. With occassional stops and possible over-night flight 'haze', 3 1/2 hours might be closer, still.

Since arranging more of the details, we can stay along the way for 2 nights until we need to be in Donegal Town. Are there some interesting places to stay along the way after Galway before we might get to Sligo? We've been on a tour of the Connemara area. We would like to be in an area for a great pub and music on the second night. The first night will definitely be a wipe out.
