moonlight hike - Grindelwald First
Hi,
I read about this guided moonlight hike (6-7 hrs), Schynige Platte-Faulhorn-First, which is conducted only in July and August.
We are going to be in Murren between 13th-18th June...and are really interested in any other shorter version of this kind of a hike.
Are there any such moon light hikes at this time of the year around Murren/ Grindelwald or Engelberg?

Genie29, unfortunately there will not be a full moon while you are there. The dates for the full moon in June are June 1 and June 30 (which some will call a blue moon).
The hike from Schynige Platte to First is a lovely one, but it covers some fairly rough, rocky ground. I would want a really brightly moonlit night to do it.

Try this web site:

The nights scheduled are 7 July and 4 August.
Unfortunately the full moon in June is when Enzian say it is.
I will be there on August 20 - 27 so I will just miss it, too. The moon is full on August 28.
Even so, 3 days before a full moon should find it plenty bright.
I know of no other guided hikes by moonlight.
Frankly, were I to do that whole hike, I would want to do it in the day time.
The views are unbeatable.
Don't despair. The scenery to me all over the Berner Oberland is better in full sunlight. Moonlight may be romantic, but full sun allows you to see the high peaks in more detail.

Well said, bob_brown. I thought about how wonderful the views are from the Panoramaweg, and what a shame it would be to miss them by hiking in the moonlight. But maybe the moonlight shimmering on the lakes far below is also nice.

Thank you all for getting back to me...
JazzDrew its available on the jungfrau webpage...the link has been given by bob brown.
It did sound very interesting...though we were hoping to do only part of it for the experience of hiking on a moonlit night...as both Enzian and bob brown said...the shimmering lake and the romance of it...caught my fancy. Otherwise we do plan to do the hike during the day.
I knew about not being able to do this particular hike...however was hoping that there was some other moonlight hike about which I hadn't heard...tho the moon would still be a full moon on these particular dates only...
!!
Thank you
Genie

Moonlight hike really does sound great, but by the time the sun goes down and the moon comes up, I am usually well along into a few beers. LOL
That does sound great though. Not trying to a wisenheimer here, but to me the point of doing a hike is to see the views. Still, the idea does sound interesting
But if you do a moonlight hike, please post about it telling us about it.
