Monterosso to Positano
The second part of our honeymoon we would like to go to Monterosso in the cinque terre, I would appreciate hotel suggestions there, as well as info on which is the best way to travel to positano from there. Would a train be too long or would it be better to take a plane from somewhere around there.

Travelling by train will be a full day of travel ...
Take the local train to LaSpezia;
There's a couple morning Intercity trains that'll get you down to Naples; OR can connect thru Rome and get on to the Eurostar. Either way it's around 7 hours travel time to get from Monterosso to Naples. Once you're in Naples then you have several choices:
1) take the Circumvesuviana train (a local train, similiar to subway type cars) to Sorrento; then the SITA bus from Sorrento to Positano. This is cheapest option and has the biggest 'schlepp' factor.
2) hydrofoil from Naples to Positano --- see other threads for more info on this option >>> Info on Hydrofoil from Naples to Positano?

3) limo service or taxi from Naples to Positano --- others can provide exact cost, think it's around 100 euros for two
Flying? You could fly from Genoa to Naples. Flight time takes 1 hr 45 minutes, which is much less time than the 7 hrs on a train. However you also have to add the time it'll take to get to the Genoa airport, AND being there an hour before your flight time. With the flight, etc., etc., etc. time will add up to around 4 1/2 to 5 hours travel time.

Roma44 -- congrats! i'm also engaged and planning my honeymoon -- starting in bellagio on lake como and then working our way down to positano -- however, we'll go thru venice and florence to get there instead of thru ct... we are staying the most time in positano -- good luck in planning and congrats!!
