Money exchange at Barcelona Airport

I will need to exchange a large some of money when I arrive at the airport in Barcelona for my lodging. I know the maximum amount to withdraw from the atm is 300 euro, but I will need 150 more Euro. Is there a maximum amount I can exchange at the bank or money exchange offices?

"<i>I know the maximum amount to withdraw from the atm is 300 euro, . . . </i>"

But you can step to the next machine (or even just re-insert your card in the same machine) and withdraw €300 more, and to the next machine and so on.

All you have to do is ask your bank to raise your daily limit to at least $700 and you'll have no problem at all.

There are ATM machines that allow you to withdraw far more than €300 (BBVA for one), but they are few and far between. You can ask your bank to up your daily allowance, but be aware that you will not be able to use the same card to withdraw cash more than once in a set period, usually one day, depending on the bank. If you attempt to use the card too soon, too often, the bank will likely freeze your account.

The best thing to do is to have two ATM cards using two different account numbers if you need to withdraw more than the ATM will allow.

I have often made multiple withdrawals using the same card at the same machine without a problem.
To be fair, I have done this in Canada, the US, France and Greece but not Spain.

The key is to raise your limit with your own bank and make them aware of your travel dates.

Absolutely not the case in my experience. As long as my bank knows I'm out of the country and I'm w/i my daily limit, I can use my ATM card multiple times.

The most I've done personally is 5 withdrawals in a little over 24 hours . . . .

You need to ask your bank what your daily limit is - and, if necessary, raise it.

Mine (Citibank) limits you to $1000 per day - but it may take a couple ATMs transactions to get it.
