Millesime or Le Regent

I have narrowed my hotel choices for my upcoming 4 nights in Paris (this May) to these 2 hotels. I need 2 rooms, one for husband and myself, and one for our 2 teenage sons. I stayed at the Bel Ami and the Millesime on my last visit 3 years ago. The Bel Ami is a little too pricey now that I need 2 rooms. The Millesime was charming, friendly and on a great street (Rue Jacob). I'm tempted just to rebook it but I got interested in Le Regent and am wondering how the 2 compare. I would get a deluxe superior room at either place. The Millesime has a package that includes breakfast, airport shuttle one way and a boatride on the Seine so you get a little more for your money there. Wondering how the breakfast is (I never had it)and wondering how the rooms and bathrooms compare. I'm tempted to just rebook the Millesime since it's a known but thought it might be fun to try a different spot. I have a feeling the differences are probably subtle and just a matter of personal taste, but I would still love to hear the opinions of those who know both places.

I've stayed at Le Regent several times and always had a superior double. The rooms and the baths are very nice (although the standard ones are incredibly small -- I peaked). Compared to anything else I ever found, I felt the rooms were the best value in the area for the price.

Regarding breakfast: I never had breakfast at Le Regent. I looked once and it was minimal and depressing. I'd much rather head out the door a few steps to one of the cafes on Rue Buci, or Paul, just around the corner and for the same amount of money do a whole lot better and have the "people watching" benefit as well.

I'd love to have your dilemma.

Sorry, though, I have not the pleasure to stay at either hotel. I read that the Le Regent's deluxe rooms are very nice and are the best choices there. There is no elevator service from the ground floor though.

Other than that I can't comment as I haven't stayed there. I think the b'fast at Le Regent is just a basic continental b'fast.

I'm sure some former guests will reply to your post soon.

We've stayed at the Millesime several times..at least 5 that I recall..and have always been pleased with the deluxe rooms and the service. The first few times we did have their breakfasts and they are plentiful, but they have become very pricey! Several juices, cereal, cheeses ,various meats and a nice assortment of breads and pastries. Other things ,such as eggs are available for a supplement. We now prefer to walk 3 blocks and go to Paul.

I stayed at Le Regent in August '02. It's been awhile but I think it is a very good value.

The location is GREAT and the rooms are charming. You can see the top of Notre Dame from the upper windows.

I stayed in one of the smaller rooms...very small but we didn't spend much time in there so we didn't mind.

The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the staff was accommodating with luggage, transportation etc.

We didn't eat the breakfast. We usually opted for Cafe Conti or Buci in order to sit outside.

I stayed at LeRegent several years ago. I requested a single room but when they saw the amount of luggage (had just come from 10 days in Greece sailing the islands) they gave me a double inside room. I stacked my luggage on one single bed and slept in the other. There was absolutely no room to move around - two people would be very tight. I had breakfast at the hotel -several croissants, o.j., yogurt and coffee. Was very good. Nice hotel, clean, great bathroom and fabulous location but would opt for a superior room.

By the way, you will not see Notre Dame from the superior rooms as they all face the wrong direction, with two windows each out to the street side.
