Milan 3-star hotel with good location and A/C?

We may be extending our upcoming Switz./Italy vacation from 11 days to 13 days (have to look into those pesky airline penalties). That would give us time to see/do Milan on our last full day before we fly out of Malpensa. Looking for <$200 hotel option near duomo/castle/scala for 2 adults and 1 child...hoefully with air conditioning. I've checked out venere and search function here already...does anyone know about the Hotel Santa Marta? Any other recs?

Mr Go,

You should have no trouble getting a hotel in Milan in your price range during the summer (if that's when you're travelling), as most properties there are geared to business travelers and often lower their rates in the summer.

Try the Cavour - small rooms but great location and costs about EUR 200
http://www.hotelcavour.it/

Another option is the Dei Cavalieri (not as well located but larger rooms)
www.hoteldeicavalieri.com
They have a summer rate of EUR 161 for an "economy double".

Finally, you might want to try the Hilton near the train station (an easy subway ride to all the sites).

Hope this helps,
Andre

Hi Mr. Go!

We really liked the Antica Locanda dei Mercanti. E mail: [email protected]

Just a couple blocks from the Duomo & the Galleria on a small pedestrian only street. Quiet at night, but very small, first class rooms. You will need to ask if they have something suitable for 3. Don't know about A/C. We were there in May & didn't need it. Just slept with the window cracked. We had a courtyard facing room. Staff extremely helpful & professional. Breakfast not included, but served in your room upon request. No sign, you just have to go to the address. Faxes answered promptly too! We paid $95/night for 2 people 2 beds, but that was 2 years ago. Beds were firm & sheets were real linen - devine!

Buon viaggio!
