Hotel in Milan

Hi, We are going to Milan on June 12-14th to start our trip. I need to find a good hotel with a great location to kick our trip off to a nice start. Any suggestions? We would like to stay in a "hip" part of town. Maybe near the Duomo? Thanks

Hi rubyroo,
We stayed at the Antica Locanda dei Mercanti (www.locanda.it) in October.
Its small and quiet, and comfortable just a 5 minute walk to duomo, Westyed in the least expensive room, which was fine.

In Milan we stayed at the Hotel Spadari al Duomo which was in a great location, right near the Duomo, shopping, restaurants, etc. Added benefit: right next door to Peck! The hotel was very clean, modern, and well-staffed. The lower level front rooms can be a bit noisy, however.

We stayed at the Starhotel Rosa which is right behind the Duomo. It has been recently redone and the rooms were very nice.

I will second Antica Locanda dei Mercanti. Have stayed there twice. Once in the most expensive room (they upgraded because of a cancellation), and once in the basic room. Both were lovely, and the people at the desk were delightful. The area is great.
