Midway stop between Arcachon, France and Paris
We will be traveling by car from Arcachon to Paris and according to Mapquest it is about a 6 hour drive. We're thinking of dividing the trip by overnighting somewhere along the way. Where would you suggest and why? And if you have any hotel recommendations those would be appreciated as well.

It is indeed a quick&easy 6 hour drive. I have driven it several times.
The drive from La Rochelle to Paris takes 4:30, this is not so much less than the drive from Arcachon.
If you want to make the break closer to Paris, I suggest the Loire, somewhere near Tours (e.g. Amboise). When you start in Archachon around noon you can visit a castle in the afternoon and another one next morning before you head to Paris.
Our favorite hotel near Tours is this one:

I really appreciate the recommendations for La Rochelle. I think we will make that a day trip during our week in Arcachon. It looks beautiful!
I was also thinking somewhere around the Loire valley, since on the map it does look like a halfway point to Paris. I love the recommendation of Amboise and the chateau hotel. Thank you so much.

If you are in the moderate budget range, you might look into Hotel St. Jean Acre, where I spent a few nights last year. Ask for a room with a harbor view. They offer free internet in the lobby.
