Yes, they do exist. I am from Canada and they are at the Canadian Outback, but i am sure any "hikers" store will carry them. I did not purchase one, but i am tempted.

I have a towel that is ultra absorbent, and I love it so much that I use it at home! I have very long hair that can soak up an entire towel after a shower, and the water absorption capabilities are incredible! I can't recall where I purchased mine, but I imagine just about any magazine that carries travel clothing and accessories would carry them -- TravelSmith, Magellan's and places like those.

Jennifer

AA,

I also have these microfiber towels that I use on my hair--amazing. They are available at large linen/houseware type stores. In California, we have Bed, Bath & Beyond, Linens n'Things, and Strouds which all carry them. Look in a LARGE department store or very LARGE drug store in the bath "supplies" area and you should have succcess. I believe the brand I have is "ACQUIS".
Good Luck. You will pay more through the traveler's catalogs, of course.

Yes, they do and they are great for travel. In my experience, Italian hotels tend to provide large non-absorbent towels (non-terry cloth), so these microfiber towels came in very handy.

I picked mine up at REI Co-op. REI also has a website, if there's not a store near you.

Do these microfiber towels dry quickly? I suppose they must.

This sounds a lot more comfortable that what I used on my trip - a chamois. But we were backpacking and they hardly took any place.

While shopping earlier today, after my above post, I found both the Hair & Body Towel (19 x 39) for $10 and the Washcloth for $4.00 in the perfume and women's accessories dept of Marshalls. They, indeed, use the brand name ACQUIS, "The Original Microfiber Towel". You can e-mail: [email protected] (the manufacturer) and ask where to locate them in your area. I checked Linen's n'Things and they had them, smaller, same brand for $18.

Thanks to Kathy for mentioning the quality of the towels in Italy, I grabbed a few in Marshall's for my trip.
I also found them in Marshall's in another state a year or two ago. They come in a plastic, zip bag which is useful.

I think the towels dried relatively quickly. I would take a shower right before bed and by morning, the towels were completely dry. I'm sorry I can't tell you how long it took to dry, though.
