excellent choice and you can see San Marcos perhaps from your hotel? Kids may like going up the tower there and feeding the pigeons - if pigeon food sellers still allowed to do that?

That's a good choice. Even if you think the kids won't be interested in St. Mark's square take them in the evening when the lights are on and the bands playing. The daytrippers will be gone so the crowd smaller.
