Still planning to go Saturday BUT the forecast is out for high winds and rain.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6180688.stm
I don't have any problem walking around in the wind and the rain but I am worried about train delays/cancellations. Earlier this evening, my husband's train from Waterloo (London) to Windsor ended at Staines (a much earlier stop) due to the dreaded "leaves on track." Someone he was riding with was fuming because the last time she took the train, it also had to stop early because a wire hanger (!) had blown onto the rails and shorted out a signal.
So if there are problems with the trains, I'll have to postpone it to sometime next week...probably Thursday.

Well, we tried to go yesterday even though the day started with crappy weather (although it was even worse this morning, which was not in the forecast...at the end of our street is a new "puddle" about 30 by 15 feet and over two feet deep in the middle). We got as far as Reading (where we change for trains to Bath), but as we suspected, the trains to and from Bath had some hefty delays. We puttered around Reading instead (excellent lunch at Prezzo, near an entrace to the Oracle shopping mall).

Bath opens its Christmas market on Thursday, the 30th, so I will retry for then.

I can't believe the stories they come out with - a wire hanger???? Ok, fingers crossed for Thursday. Christmas market and a soak... sounds great

I'm still on for tomorrow...I'll be catching a train at either 10 or 10:30 am, depending on how quickly I can walk the dog and then get myself to the train station. Should be a decent day before the crappy weather (rain, wind) returns on Friday.

Well, I did get there, it didn't rain and the trains were on time.
Had a good day, esp. once I got away from the crowds around the Pump Room, Roman Baths, etc. Once I headed out toward the Holburne and then swung around through back streets up to the Royal Crescent, it was much more enjoyable and I had an excellent meal at Blackstone's, a restaurant that just opened a few months ago, very highly recommend it. Will post more details later.
