Mercedes A180

I am planning to rent a Mercedes A180 in my Europe trip.
I am 6'1'' (185 cm) and I am wondering if I will fit in this car as it looks very small.

Yes you will fit. You are a normal height not a giant. I assume you will be in the front seats not the rear?

I rented one of those, and didn't think it was that small a car. Now I'm not that tall, of course (but 6'1" isn't that extraordinary), but that model Mercedes is a lot bigger than many cars that are referred to as subcompacts, for example. I wouldn't think you'd have a problem, but that's a guess.

You should note that when a rental company offers a certain car in the small print of the agreement they always put or similar. So you never know what you will end up with

Will reiterate what ribeirasacra has already said. We requested an A180 and ended up with a Cabriolet.

Yes, I know, I rented cars at least 10 times and maybe only twice got a promoted car; at this point I will just hope that the car at least will be the same size as I like to stretch my legs during driving

It all depends on how you like to drive. A lot of people l ike to drive all folded up with the steering wheel not far from their chin.

But if you like to drive with your arms and legs stretched out you might find it too tight - I', 5'9"and can;t drive a compact - just no room to stretch my legs. My beau (6'3") and I always get a midsize.

nytraveler, that was my concern as nobody can sit behind me even in a midsize car.

I'm 6'1" and found the A180 quite roomy inside.

As everybody else had said, the A180 will be large enough. However, you may get not a A180 but a "similar" car (whatever that means). In this case, try the car. Often, there are different models available which belong to the same booking class and you can choose. This is especially true for large (airport) rental stations.

if you don't understand "or similar" then go to this page on Avis's website
http://www.avis.com/car-rental/content/render-faq.ac
Get to the pull down question about reserving " Can I reserve a specific make/model of car? you will shte answer is:-
Examples of Avis vehicle fleets by country may be viewed through the Car Guide found in the Cars & Services section of our Avis.com website. Please know, the make/models shown on our Avis.com website are examples only. Avis is unable to guarantee a specific make/model. All car groups and models may not be available at all Avis locations.
If you definitely want to reserve a specific make/model, check out our Cool Car collection.

So most cars cannot be reserved.
I could give you more examples either by company or in whatever language you want. it will always read the same.
I hope I have explained it well enough.

ribeirasacra:

Seems that you did not get my irony. Often, the "example" cars are Mercedes or BMW and what you actually get is Renault or Toyota or Seat. Got the picture?

Sorry I did not get it.all (I did on the bit about choosing a car)..But you seem to go to good hire car companies...I have heard of a Merc begin advertised and ending up with a KIA. It was the same size.

I thought it was kind of "tall" for a car, also, actually. The Mercedes A180 didn't seem as small as a lot of those small cars to me, it seemed bigger than the Civic I usually drive, let alone some of the real cheap things you get in the US (Hyundais, used to be Dodge Neons, etc., Chevy Aveo, Ford Fiesta, etc.) I never rent a car based on what model I think I'm getting as they always just give you examples, anyway Where I rent, the Mercedes A180 is the same category as a VW Gulf, for example, and I liked it a lot better.
