Memorable meal in Galway Bay?

Where would you recommend to eat dinner while in Galway Bay???We will be staying at Galway Bay Golf & Country Club. They list a restaurant on the premises but not sure if that is the best choice.

In Galway city there is a few. You can take a taxi from Oranmore where you are located. Nimmos has had good reviews recently.
Nimmo's Restaurant
Spanish Arch Long Walk Galway
Phone (091) 562353
Fax (091) 846403

There are lots of restaurants in Galway but I would either ask the hotel for recommendations or go into town have a wander and chose a place that looks nice. All places these days have a menu outside so you can look without going inside the restaurant.

There's a fantastic Indian restaurant in Galway city centre. I can't remember the name of it, but it's just opposite Jury's Hotel. I've been there a couple of times and it's gorgeous!

I've done some searching, and that Indian restaurant is called Eastern Tandoori and it has won an award for being in the Top 100 Restaurants in Europe, and it's also in the Michelin Guide.

I loved Nimmos and Kirwin's --both were just excellent. You need reservations.

If you have a car....drive north just outside of the city to Moycullen and The White Gables...It will be the best meal you will have in Ireland and I have been all over the country in 8 trips....You will need reservations tho. The hostess is Ann , the owner..
If you are there a few days go into Barna to Donnellys..good pub food and atmosphere.

Mike,

There are at least two very fine dining choices in Galway City, one of which is Nimmos, previously suggested by Siobhan. Another good pick would be The Archway, located at 3 Victoria Place. The latter is especially recommended if you fancy French influences, and you can learn more at www.archway.ie.

Best of luck.

O'Grady's on the pier in Barna. Great seafood and a lovely seaview. Also amazing Irsh coffees after dinner!
This comes from www.galwaybandb.net

O'Grady's on the Pier
Barna, Co. Galway
In a stunning position, with views over the harbour and beach to distant mountains, Michael O'Grady's latest venture is an informal seafood restaurant - and Michael's aim is for his seafood to be simply prepared and very fresh as my father did it years ago . Always innovative, Michael is one of the first chefs to pay serious attention to the new deep-sea varieties of fish, which are becoming increasingly important as traditional fish stocks decline. Michael's dish - sautied baby shark on bok choi with sweet chili & scallion butter - demonstrates just how appealing this little-known variety can be when cooked simply but imaginatively in the contemporary idiom.

I will also "3rd" in response to O'Grady's...It is right down the street from Donnelly's...The waiter even had the chef write the recipe for the lamb stew dinner we had that evening!
Try to get there before sundown to "watch the sun go down on Galway Bay!" Excellent take....small place, so make reservations!
