Can somebody tell me where is a good place in the Athens airport to meet up with a group of people? We're going to pick up rental cars. The others will be arriving by subway; we will be arriving by hotel shuttle. So none of us will be arriving at the airport by plane.

Though, on further thought, I suppose we'll all end up in the rental car office anyway.

There is a pharmacy on the arrivals level, you could all meet in front of it.

The entry doors to the departures hall are numbered. Pick one. If your friends are arriving by Metro the closes doors to the Pedestrian Skyway for the Metro are 1&2.

Since you must have reservations why not meet at the rental car desk? The first ones there can get the paperwork started...

On second thought... if you are all in Athens already why go all the way out to the airport for the car? Pick up from Avis or Budget on Amalias Street... it's then an easy drive out of the city down Syngrou Avenue from there. I have done it.. driving in Athens is not the horror story people will have you believe.

OP said that some will arrive with the hotel shuttle, which mean that they will be somewhere near the airport.

If they want to drive to either Southern or Northern Greece, the airport is the most convenient location, as it is located on Attiki Odos, so that driving through Athens isn't necessary.

Driving from the center to Syngrou Avenue and from there to the highway( Kifissos) isn't that easy... you can easily make a mistake and find your self on the way to Glyfada or to Piraeus...

I have done it. It is not difficult, especially if all are in Athens already. If someone is already near the airport anyway, it makes more sense to leave from there.
