Meersburg
Sorry about the multiple posts, but I just came up with a few more questions.
If we were to take the ferry to Meersburg, how long is the walk between there and the Neues Schloss and the Altes Schloss? (If it is a long distance--what would be the best means of transportation?).
Also--does anyone know how late the ferry runs from Meersburg to Konstanz in August? I'm wondering if we could eat dinner in Meersburg, and then take the ferry back to Konstanz?
Thanks!

The walk from Altes to neues Schloss is 2 minutes. From the ferry, perhaps a few minutes more.
Here is the timetable of the ferry: http://sw.konstanz.de/verkehr/faehre/fahrplan.htm

The car ferry runs round the clock from Meersburg to Konstanz but does not go to the town centre in Konstanz - you'd need to take a bus into town and the last one seems to be at midnight. As far as I can see, the last passenger ship from Meersburg to Konstanz town centre in August leaves at 2040.

Meersburg sounds like the perfect place to visit. All very walkable. It sounds like we can have a lovely day--taking the ferry to Mainau and then Meersburg. Visit the castles, have dinner, and then back to Konstanz. Thanks!
