Marriott on the French Riviera

Does anyone know about the Marriott in Monte Carlo? I want to use my Marriott points and interested in staying at their hotel in the South of France. Please advise.

I've stayed at the Marriott which is right next to Monte Carlo, and it's a nice place. It's a classic Marriott, rooms decent sized, very clean, with lots of Americans in the lobby. It has a good pool, and it's in a quiet location. You will like it. We stay there every time we go, and we've been about 20 times.

Thanks, Melissa. Is the Hotel in a location which is accessible to the beach, cafes, shopping, etc?

Hi Ryan, I just stayed a week at the Marriott Cap d'Ail on points in April. What a deal. You will love it. The hotel is clean, comfortable, large rooms, very helpful staff and exceptionally friendly. We did a breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel when it was convenient and it was very good food. We had a car and there was a problem with parking. If you used the parking garage it was $15 Euros per night. If you got back early, you could get a spot on the street right before the hotel. A very nice service that they offer is their shuttle service. They have a Marriott van that is available to take you any place local whenever you want. You just let the concierge know when you are ready. They will take you to the old town of Monaco near the palace, the casino, out for dinner, shopping, etc. They give you a business card and you present it wherever you are, they call the Marriott for the return trip back to the hotel. No charge. It seems to be a common practice and nobody was surprised when we asked them to call the Marriott. We gave the driver a tip every night. It didn't pay to take your own car and a heck of a lot cheaper than a cab. The only decent beach was the Monte Carlo beach but it was too cold for us in April. The pool was nice but we didn't have time. Food was very close by. In Fontville, we recommend Amici Meiu (continental cuisine), LaPorte for Chinese in Monaco, Il Terrazino around the corner from the Casino (for Italian). The concierge and bellman (Mauritzio) recommended quite a few wonderful restaurants. We did a lot of souvenir shopping in the old town of Monaco. Very convenient to do day trips all over the southern part of France. A wonderful location! Just thought of something - they were building a condo right next door and every day you would hear the construction - didn't bother us, but some people it does. Happy Traveling!
