Maitaitom, I LOVE your trip reports!
I just spent a good hour or more reading your Germany, France, Switzerland and Italy trip report! Luckily I planned ahead for such an event and scattered a bunch of papers around my desk to appear as though I was working.
I love the way you travel, and you have a real knack for writing.
For anyone else who missed this, http://travelswithmaitaitom.typepad..../06/index.html.

lhopp, I'm glad I'm not the only who has perfected the "appear to be really busy" method of working!
I read maitai's Italy report when he posted it, but I didn't know about the report mentioned above until I stumbled across the link that he included in a Switzerland post yesterday. Very entertaining!

Wow! Thanks. I have received a lot of great information from this board, so it's a fun way to give back and also relive our trip (with the amount of vino we drank, it's amazing we recalled as much as we did).
I saw and responded (hopefully humorously) to the other post that eschews long trip reports, but personally I like to read about other people's trips. Both the trip reports and the responses are a good (and fun) way to glean more information about a potential vacation spot.
At least two Tracys now like my trip reports. Perhaps I should quit while I'm ahead.

LOL maitaitom...I just read your response to that post you were referring to!
If it makes you feel any better, I loved your Italy report and we decided to visit Umbria based mainly on how great your trip report was and how lovely you made Umbria sound. And no, we didn't regret our decision!
Now I am doing the same with TexasAggie's report on Greece, which, thanks to her great report, made us change our plans from Southeast Asia to Greece for next years long vacation!

Tom, I just finished your Italy report, and let me just say thank you for brightening my day.
Amazing trip, awesome and hilarious report, and when I head back to Italy, hopefully with my sister, BIL and parents in tow, I'll be printing out your report to help me plan.
Thank you!!!
