Lutry to Bern: suggested side trips?
Two of us are heading from Lutry to Bern by train on Monday, July 9th and we're wondering what would be a good way to spend the day. Head to Neuchatel? Gruyeres? Fribourg? We enjoy walking, hiking, exploring on foot but we would need to leave our carry-on baggage at whatever train station we would stop at. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Since you have to change trains at Lausanne it seems it would make a natural stop - the old town and cathedral are close to train station and can take the funicular down to the nice lakeside part of Lausanne. Train station has luggge lockers. The IOC Olympic HQs also has a museum/showcase to visit.

Hi tollers1,
What are your interests?
There is an amazing museum & outdoor museum set up just outside of Neuchatel that displays the La Tene habitation & lifestyle. I really enjoyed that and think it's a very worthwhile detour, if you have any interest in prehistory. You could leave your luggage in lockers at the Neuchatel station.
Haven't been to Fribourg yet, but everyone who goes loves it there.
Good luck -- I don't think you can make a bad decision! Have fun as you plan!
