How to get from Porsche factory to Mercedes Museum - in Stuttgart
We have a morning tour of the Porsche factory reserved for September; afterwards, wondering hw we would get to the Mercedes Musuem. We won't have a car and will be relying on public transportation or taxis. Any idea what a taxi would cost? Thanks.

It has been a few years since my son and I went to the Porsche factory and the Mercedes museum, but we took the train to both. I don't know if the Porsche factory has moved. I remember reading something about that. The Porsche museum and factory were located on the same grounds when I went. The museum was small at that time. It was an easy walk to both after we got off the train. I think you'll go back to Stuttgart to get the train to either of them.

MBenz Museum
S-Bahn 1 to Neckarstadion

Hello OTC:
Sorry to hear about you misfortune, but in terms of the Porsche Museum, you are better off. We visited the old Porsche Museum (at the site of the factory) about 2 years ago. We took a cab from the Hbf in Stuttgart and it was about a 30 minute, one-way drive in non rush hour. Can't remember the price for the round trip but it was significant. If I had known about the S-bahn, as PQ describes, I would have surely used it.
The old museum was a great disappointment. One modest sized room with low ceiling in which about a dozen Porsche models were displayed. No audio visual stuff or detailed explanations. Good luck. Gradyghost

The names of the S-Bahn stations have changed, which is a national pastime.. never big changes, but few add-ons or alternations to keep people confused. What is in brackets is now part of the official name of the stations, respectively.
For Porsche Museum:
S6 Neuwirthsplatz (Porscheplatz)
For Mercedes-Benz Museum:
S1 NeckarPark (Mercedes-Benz)
To go from one place to the other always means to change S-Bahn at Stuttgart Main Station (i.e. "Hauptbahnhof").
