Lunch stops? Venice to Bologna (Ducati factory) and Siena to Sorrento
Lunch #1 - we will be getting our rental car in Venice and driving to Siena, stopping at the Ducati factory just outside Bologna for the 2:30 tour. Is there somewhere near but not in Bologna that might make a nice stop for an hour or two? I don't want to leave Venice TOO early, it's a 162K drive to the factory, then it's another 169K on to Siena, so I don't think we won't have time to stop in Bologna proper.
Lunch #2 - Siena to Sorrento, 472K. This will take most of the day, 6 hrs or so?, I think we just want to get to Sorrento and enjoy the afternoon there unless there is something great to see for an hour or two or a nice spot in the south for a huge lunch? Minimal traffic hassles, please, not too far off the autostrada.

Hi,
No, we won't be too much in a rush, I guess I made it sound that way! Once we get to Siena we'll have 3 nights there, then we'll have 4 nights in Sorrento. I was just wondering about good places to eat rather than just looking for a truck stop or something.
I may try to move our res at the Ducati factory to 11:30, that will get us to Siena earlier.

Were it me, I would drive from Venice straight to the Ducati factory just so I knew exactly where it was and knew how much time I had to eat. Then, I would go look for a lunch place. I've never been in Borgo Panigale, but no doubt it has more than one tasty place to eat, or someplace very nearby . I would simply ask around. Sometimes a good place to ask is the local food store, or the local cafe. If you arrive in Borgo Panigale after 1:15, you really don't have time to eat the standard Italian lunch, which takes longer than an hour in a restaurant, so you'll have to look for a sandwich.
As for the drive from Siena to Sorrento, it can be really difficult to time your arrival from when you leave to where you'll be at the Italian lunch hour, and it doesn't sound like you are willing to put a lot of effort into tracking down and lingering over the gastronomic experience of a lifetime. You have 3 choices: (a) pack a picnic lunch or (b) pull into a rest stop and eat at the AutoGrill, or (c) take a chance on any exit around 12pm and follow signs into the first very small town or follow little signs you see that look like a knife-and-fork (which is how Italians find an off the highway restaurant), or just ask somebody you see. If you're not willing to do (c), doing (a) will get you the best meal.
Here's the kind of sign you follow to locate a restaurant:

Have fun.
