Luftansa b-class worth the miles?

Hi,
I am planning to use some hard-earned frequent flyer miles to upgrade to business class on a Luftansa flight from San Fran to Munich. Is the upgrade worth it? (Service, food, space, etc.)
Thanks!

I haven't done it with Lufthansa, but I've done with several other airlines and it has always been worth it, not only for the better service and food but starting out late afternoon or evening from the west coast, I've been able to get a good nights sleep and arrive fresh as a daisy in Europe and ready to go.
I flew business class with Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Cape Town. Definitely not worth it. Plane was late, and we got kicked out of the lounge because it was closing. THey had to change planes, and so our seat selection went out the window - at one point they weren't sure I could even sit next to my husband. My 'entertainment' remote didnt work if I didnt hold the button down all the time. Food was also not great.

On the way home we again had a problem with seat selection. We had chosen from their diagram, which didn't match the actual plane we had, so seats backed up against the toilets. They reclined all right, but more noise and passage than we had bargained on. And of 3 choices on the menu, they had run out of 2 by the time they got to us. We were in the back of the first business class section, not the final row, so dont know what happened to all the other people who wanted to choose a main course.

I think there were more problems, but those are the ones I remember. I wrote a long letter to Lufthansa, got two bottles of Chilean wine as recompense. As I said to them in the letter, never again.

I flew Lufthansa's business class from Germany to Washington, D.C. following a flight on Austrian Airlines. Lufthansa paled in comparison; the best thing about the flight was the more-than-adequate legroom. Otherwise it was nothing special. Unfortunately, I have read that Austrian has now merged with Lufthansa.

However, I believe that Lufthansa has now considerably improved the business-class cabin.

Thank you, Underhill. On the bright side, I was able to use USAIR miles to book on Lufthansa and ended up with two business class tickets for the same miles as one would have cost me on USAIR.

I have flown Lufthansa business class several times RT from Denver to Frankfurt; its always worth it over economy class.I don't remember any negatives,... nor superlatives. I've been on better and worse business class in other airlines, but it is always a relief to sit up front, especially from the west coast to Europe. Grab those seats if you can.

Recently, we flew on Lufthansa's newest version of an A340-600 in long-haul business class on our Vancouver to Frankfurt leg to Venice, and return. We had seats that adjusted in all directions including horizontal. The extra space was wonderful & it was great to be able to stretch out! We usually get no sleep on airplanes but this time we managed a flew hours of zzz-z-z's & we landed in Frankfurt feeling not too badly!

From Frankfurt to Venice, we were on an A320. The configuration in business class was three seats across with the middle seat back down.

On the Florence to Frankfurt leg, our seats were assigned when we checked in at the airport. There were no seats in business class so we sat in economy. It was fine for the short flight.

You can check out LH's fleet on its website.

Was it worth the extra points? It was for us!

Carlux, I am sorry I didn't see your response when I posted earlier. Thank you for taking the time to post, even though the news wasn't good. I will hope my experience is more like 2010's and HappyTvlr!
