Low tide along the English Channel

I was in Berck over Easter weekend for the annual kite festival (there will be some photos in the future), but one of the things I enjoy the most in those northern beach towns is just walking along the shore for miles. And I am always impressed at how the sea can draw back so far that it completely disappears, 3 or 4 kilometers away, before returning with great energy (but no, not as fast as a galloping horse -- that is a myth).

So anyway, I let myself be drawn away from the kites for a few hours and went looking for nature instead. This is what I found: http://tinyurl.com/3elt9hd

Another marvelous expedition from the comfort of my computer chair. No sand in my socks, either.

Looks as if weather was warmer there than here on the New england coast. thanks for sharing and reminding me that we too will eventually have some "no shirt" beach weather.

"(but no, not as fast as a galloping horse -- that is a myth)."

At Morecambe Bay the tide comes in quicker than a running man - but being on a horse may not help as there are quicksands.

I've enjoyed all your trip reports but rarely take the time to say so, so this time I'm thanking you before I even take a look at your photos. Thanks a lot for every one of your photo essays. I always learn something.

I'm interested to see photos of Berck, after reading Jean-Dominique Bauby's book Le Scaphandre et Le Papillon - The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. He was in the Hopital Maritime at Berck, and mentions being taken out on the beach. Good to see the photos.

Since I generally travel alone, I enjoy taking the rest of you along with me the only way I can.

The tidal flats look very similar to the bay beaches on the north shore of Cape Cod.
