Ooh...wondering how much of this thread is truly in jest, and hoping it's all of it! Kelly, Birkin...it's all in style if you wear it correctly (except for tapered, pleated, acid-wash jeans...)
I say it's a good decision on the ebay one, at least for your granddaughter. If she's into trends, then it's perfect...especially at 17! I'm not even sure I knew how to *carry* a handbag when I was 17, much less own a high-end designer accesory. So, I'm sure she'll love it. Besides, what happens if someone steals the wallet out of her locker at school? You both would be heartbroken (and pocket-broken) if it was the real thing.
But still if you're looking for the real thing, always be careful when buying out of the store itself. There's not a lot of guarantees, unless you ask someone who is very familiar with the product lines.
I'll be heading to Madrid on a couple weeks and I'll probably check out the prices anyway! I'll be sure to give you a full report when I get back
