We stayed at the Legrand last December. We got a great deal through an AMEX promotion. Club level and upgrade to a junior suite with one night free for each night paid. The junior suite was spacious and luxurious and the club was absolutely wonderful. Free use of internet and computer, snack and drinks all day and wine, champagne and cocktails at night. Having never stayed on the right bank, I was a bit concerned but the location is great. Very walkable if you prefer and the metro is right around the corner. Best way to get there from CDG is the Roissy Bus...an express bus that stops about a half block from the Legrand.

My first trip to Paris I stayed at a hotel on the right bank. It was like a hotel of my dreams. An inner courtyard where the woman who was the Courciege was stationed in her box like a telephone booth and every morning she would bring out her fat Siameese cat to sun itself on one of the tables. I still have that picture 40 years ago and that hotel, The France et Choisiel is now hotel Costes.

Interesting to learn about the Hotel Britannique. Glowing reviews on tripadvisor.

Thanks, cigalechanta, for your recollection of your dream hotel. It seems that I'm forever wondering how my little pension or hotel discoveries of the '70s have stood the test of time. (I do think that your budget must have even then been greater than mine.) I've not been able to find out, for example, if the Londres et Stockholm on Rue St. Roch is still in operation. I digress. Just wanted to say that I went to the Costes' website and wallowed in the sounds of its home page. What a kick. J.
