Looking for German relatives
I inherited a family photo album from a friend of my parents and am trying to locate family members who might be interested in having it. All my search attempts have failed. There are pictures that might help in finding the relatives through the Internet. They are posted at:

German readers might be able to help in this matter.
Thanks.

I have read the history of Emmy Dörfel, which you gave a link to. She lived quite a life!
Because she lived in East Berlin (DDR) after the war, I suggest you contact the German embassy in Washington, DC. After the wall fell, the Germans have a very complete "open" file on many, many people. I forget the address in Berlin, but they helped me in the early 90's when I wrote to them. So, I'm sure the German Embassy can give you an e-mail address.
Also, I'm sure it would be "Bergsburg" and not "Bergsbruck".

The town might even be Burgebrach, which is close to Bamberg, and I suspect that the last page of the album contains pictures from the same family.
I'll consider the German Embassy. Thanks for the suggestion.

I found some more information. Two more needles that might be found in the haystack are Heinz Finke and Heike Just. Searching the white pages in the German telephone directory tells me that these are very common names, but not within 50 km. of Bamberg or Plauen. But if anyone knows someone by that name in Germany, maybe lighting will strike.

Just another tiny bit of information on the photos.
The info on the photographer which took the baby picture in Burgebrach must have some typos..
Since Burgebrach is a tiny village there is only one photographer listed with a similar name:
ifo (not ifp) Fotografie
Marktstrasse 1
96138 Burgebrach
email: [email protected]
German ZIP codes changed from 4 to 5 digits in the meantime, and the studio might have moved within that small town - maybe another reason why you did not get a response.
Good luck!

Thanks Cowboy. Unfortunately, that "p" must have been a typo in my Fodor's message because I did write to the address you mention on November 6 and received no reply whatsoever.

May require some effort, but you could contact the local Church in her hometown. Check the cemetary records to see if she had any relatives buried there. Same name? Someone is required to pay a maintenance fee on the plots.
