Much of the flooding in Germany so far has been on the Danube system and the Elbe. Niedersachsen (lower Saxony) and Hamburg are preparing for high water. Hamburg will be affected sometimes during the middle of this week as levels on the Elbe rise farther down stream.

Magdeburg was affected this evening (Aug 19)by the flood crest, and the water was rising faster than expected, according to German news releases.

Magdeburg is a key rail point and the extent to which train traffic will be disrupted is a function of the height of the flood crest.

Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the north are also now affected by high water, with a second crest expected this week.
One report described the low lying areas of Saxony and Sachsen-Anhalt as being transformed into giant lakes.
(ganze Landstriche in riesige Seen
verwandelt)

The water levels in Dresden are falling and S-bahn traffic has resumed.
Passau on the Danube was also damaged by the flood waters.

Most of the news reports seem to have focused on Prague and Dresden, but there has been flooding along the Danube as well. I haven't read anything in the news reports about Linz and Vienna being flooded.
