Looking for a nice hotel in the Marais
Hi-can anyone recommend a good, quiet, charming hotel in the Marais area? Don't want to spend more than $200 per night. I have tried a few places (that are less expensive) but they are full.

friends of mine recently stayed at the Hotel St Paul le Marais (there is more than one hotel St Paul in Paris), and liked it very much.

jen, if you are alone, Adrian's Provençal studio would be great for you:

I rented on Bourg-Tibourg through

I'm quite happy with it, but there's always next time, right?

If you can get in, Hotel Jeanne D'Arc in the Marais is very nice.

Hi-my husband and I will be there for two nights. A lot of the less expensive places are already booked for when we are going (in two weeks-go figure!) but we did find a nicer (read, more expensive) place that has availability, the Hotel Bourg Tibourg. I tried Hotel St Paul and Jeanne D'arc but they were full. I'm sort of a last minute planner, if you hadn't noticed!

My wife and I stayed at the following:
http://www.hotelbretonnerie.com/bretonnerie.htm Very well located and a great accidental find. We arrived in Paris with no reservations, everything was booked because of the Eiffel Tower Centenial celebration. We were referred to this place by two American students and it couldn't have been better if we planned it. We had a delightful top floor room and the breakfast room in the basement was like a wine cave. I would definately go back.

I stayed at the Hotel Bourg Tibourg a couple of years ago. Decor is by Jacques Garcia who designed the Hotel Costes as well. Very dramatic but the room, which was a superior double, was impossibly tiny. No place to sit other than the bed. The lighting consisted of 2 red-shaded sconces, period.

oh great-glad I haven't given them my credit card number yet. We have stayed at Hotel L'Abbaye before and I loved that hotel but it's not in the Marais-wanted to try a new area. Note to self-don't wait until two weeks prior to departure to find a hotel next time!

I have stayed at the Bretonnerie and the Hotel St. Paul le Marais. Both would be fine; they are in different areas of the quarter... The staff at the Bretonnerie was more accommodating than at the St. Paul le Marais.. I actually stayed there for several weeks while on an assignment in Paris and have good memories of the hotel.
Our room at the St. Paul was a duplex... Rooms at both of these vary quite a bit so try to do some research into specific rooms if possible if you choose one of them.

Jen, Lábbaye WAS my hotel of choice but now too expensive for me. At the moment I'm drinking a rosé and the glass is sitting on the little oval Hotel l'Abbaye tray.
Cafegoddess, great name!
