Long weekend trips
Hey Folks,
I have long weekends coming up in the month May. I am currently in Bordeuax. Any suggestions where I can plan my trips for the long weekends. I have Barcelona, Spain in my mind. Any other suggestions please. Thanks.

Take a look at the destinations possible from Mérignac and pick whatever appeals to you:

I wouldn't discount the train, though. There are often great, cheap train fares from Bordeaux to all over, and you don't have to schlep to the airport and back.

The list StCirq posted is great and has some brilliant long weekend spots. The ones that I have loved for a long weekend from that list are Marrakesh, Dubrovnik, Edinburgh and Venice. I'd also love to visit St Petersburg but haven't as there are no direct flights from where I am.
Barcelona is also a good destination but depending where you are going after Bordeaux, it may be one of the easier destinations to visit at a later date as nearly everywhere has good connections to Barcelona whereas some of the other destinations in that list are harder to get to and you are lucky to have a direct flight from Bordeaux, so maybe take advantage of that?
