LONDON - Which Hotel??

We are going to London with a group of friends and we are deciding on a hotel and are getting mixed opinions. We have the choice of the Marriott County Hall or Rueben's at the Palace and are unsure which hotel would be the best. Friends of ours who go to London often strongly disliked Rueben's at the Palace and hated the location while they loved the Marriott County Hall both for the hotel and the location. One of our group has gotten great reviews of Rueben's and thinks it will be the best location for us both for the quality of the hotel and the location. Has anyone stayed at either and what is your opinion, Our friends who stayed at the Rueben's previously said the rooms are so tiny you can barely move in them. Would appreciate any opinions. Thanks.

Rooms at the Rubens differ from pretty small (or typical for London) to quite large. Maybe they were just unlucky.

Both Hotels are very good. County Hall has the views. Both are very well located for transport/sightseeing. Both are walking distance to TONS of things.

I really like the Rubens, but the Marriott's views would trump a lot IMO.

We stayed at the Marriott Grosvenor Square when we took a 24-hr layover in London on our way to Capetown SA about 5 years ago. Loved the poshness and a decent sized room. (I was using points which is why we stayed there.) The County Hall location looks fabulous, as does the hotel. That would be my choice. Don't know for how long you'll be there, but you don't want to chance staying in a tiny room, particularly when you KNOW someone personally who disliked that specific option. Great reviews on a web site do not mean as much as personal knowledge.

Thanks for the info janisj - I also think the Marriott County Hall is where we will stay even if the couple traveling with us insists that they are going to stay at Rubens. We just are hearing too many negatives from friends who have stayed at Ruben's.
Ohoh_busted, we tried to stay at Marriott Grosvenor Square as that was highly recommended to us, but it is sold our for our dates. DARN!!

booking.com good discount site with real honest reviews

Marriott for me might also look at Dolphin Square Apartments

upscle awesome usually at great price.

If money no object for me always Dorchester suites

always great for me as long as someone else is paying...

Still owned by the Sultan of Brunei I think...

Happy Hunting!

County Hall would be my choice because I love the SOuthbank area. I usually stay near south Kensington or Gloucester Rd because I always find good prices on londontown and It s easy to get around on the tube or buses plus we can walk to most of our favorite restaurants and lots of services neaqrby.
