London weather in April
We are contemplating a trip to London the end of April and wondered if anyone could tell us about the weather at that time. Have visited there summer, fall and winter but never in April. We won't go if it's as cold and rainy as it is in late Oct/Nov.

Hi,
April in UK is traditionally wet.
However in recent years some of the dryest weather of the year has been during this period. It will certainly be warmer than Oct/Nov and you will see spring for the first time.
But there really is more to the UK than London, sure; London has loads to do... but there are plenty of other places.
Try Wales...Cardiff is a beautiful city with Castles and fantastic shopping centre (so my daughter tells me).
All this 2 hours from the center of London.

Have fun and don't forget your brolly , just in case!!!

Muck

Glasslady if you truly mean "We won't go if it's as cold and rainy as it is in late Oct/Nov" you should probably pick someplace else. There are no guarantees - but there aren't any in June either. (October is not usually very cold nor very rainy - but you can't generalize)

April could be warmish and dry, it could be wet, it could be freezing cold and windy, and it could be all three.

Spring weather in England is very changeable so if that is your most important criteria you might be happier going somewhere warmer.

We were there in April of last year. We had cool and rainy days, we had sunshine. it was never really warm, but it wasn't really cold either. One thing for sure -- the countryside was beautiful! If you get out of town, you'll see all the daffodils and flowers. Really worth it.

You can check in the weather section of www.bbc.co.uk, which will also have a 90-day forecast (though I notice it's firmly flagged as the forecaster's personal judgement!).

Can be one of my favourite times of the year: on a sunny April day there's a particularly silvery light in London, with all the promise of summer to come.
But it will be changeable: that's the only predictable thing.

I was in London late April last year. I rained the day I got there very hard but I got in a line and in to see the House of Commons in session. Another day I got a little sunburn riding on the open bus tour. So changable is a good word--and take a good umbrella. Enjoy.
