We always go in April, altho I prefer late April to early April. Easter is pretty busy, all the kids are out of s school in the UK so people are out and about. Likewise for travelers from other European countries.

Weatherwise, it can be cold/cool/rain/snow/warm In other words be prepared for most anything.

I was in London this past April around the 19th and the weather was very pleasant..light jacklet at night was all I wore and we had no rain at all.

Out in the countryside it was a bit cooler and we had one day of on-agin/off-again rain. Actually had a couple of very sunny days.

Overall very pleasant.

"Overall very pleasant." OR - it could just as easily be dreadful.

The one thing you need to know about London (and the UK in general). The weather is VERY variable. One April could be balmy and almost summer like, while the next year it could be very cold and wintry. Or it could be both in the same month.

Mainly you want to dress in layers and have an umbrella. That way you are ready for anything.

April is a GREAT time in UK.......but do keep in mind that VERY often the children have a school break for two weeks (the week before and the week after Easter). (some one week or the other.)
This makes for more travelers etc, but nothing like the crowds in the summer.
The weather in April can be quite pleasant...cool, and even with some drizzle and rain it is very "atmospheric" and a very good time to travel.
We've ended up several times in the UK around that time and of course it's always fun.
