London VS Paris

We are planning a trip Dec 7-Dec 12 and we cannot decide if we should go to Paris or London. It will be my husband and I, we are looking for a fun trip away from the kids. We love wime & food, and have never been to London or Paris. We will be coming from Philadelphia. Also what are some nice hotles in Paris.. we usually stay at the Ritz but there is not one. Thanks!

My vote is for Paris. How about Four Seasons Hotel George V for a high end hotel.

Hi kmberstar,

Although I personally prefer London, I recommend you go to Paris. As it is your first time to either city and you are getting away alone with your husband, treat yourself to Paris. Paris is great for a romantic getaway, and has great museums and food.

Enjoy!

I love London, too (and used to live there), but if you like wine and food, then the clear winner is Paris.

There's a Four Seasons that is supposed to be quite nice. You might also have a look at the Walt Hotel (upscale boutique).

In London, they speak English, well, kinda.

In Paris, they have great food. Perhaps I have given you food for thought.

London is very expensive.

In Paris, the wine is very cheap. More food for thought.

Reading a good guide book might help you decide..you know, you can see what each city has that appeals to you personally.
Since the Paris Ritz is kinda famous, it seems to be a good idea for you to learn a little more about the 2 cities.

I always wanted to go to England so London was of course, my first trip to Europe..after many trips to London, we spent al ong weekend in Paris and from then on, we went to Paris all the time.
Next I have to see Madrid and Barcelona, Florence and Rome...so start reading and making those lists for things you want to see and do.

Happy planning!

I believe that the Ritz in Paris was the first one; opened in 1898.

Some folks like the Plaza Athenee, others the Meurice.

You could google "Paris luxury hotels".

Swissgirl, is there a reason you purposely topped this 10 month old post and confused so many people?
