Saxon Switzerland

Hi, any ideas for hostel accommodation near Saxon Switzerland National park? I tried to contact Bad Schandau YH, but they haven't replied me.

Right in the National Park:

http://www.zeughaushuette.de/
(send them a fax, no email as it seems)

How much do you want to spend max.? Is a B&B okay?
www.hotels-saechsische-schweiz.de/hillehof2.htm
VERY close to the National Park (above Bad Schandau) and 20 - 25 Euro per person and night incl. breakfast.

This one is in Schmilka:
www.pension-grenzeck.de/pension.htm
Very nice, 23 Euro per night and person incl. breakfast.

www.pension-felsenmuehle.de
(about the same price range - in the Kirnitzschtal valley, excellent location for hiking/exploring the National Park)

Ditto, but closer to Bad Schandau:

Yeah a B&B is fine..i went to the websites and tried to email them, but they don't reply. Is it the language problem? Also, we'll be travelling via train from Dresden, are these guesthouses accessible via public transport?

how long have you waited for a reply?

If more than a few days, could be a language problem and would use babelfish to translate the message, hopefully that would help.

But the message should be rather straightforward. My bad German would be something like this

Haben sie ein zimmer frei fur x personnen fur 2 Tage beginnen am Date? Was ist das Preis?

Danke schon

A few of the sites mention they will pick you up from the station.

Hi,

if you need help with translation then post here or email me (ibrenn (at) web.de). I am German and live in the region.

All of them are accessible by public transportation - more or less convenient/frequent. I'd say the Pension Grenzeck is most convenient.

The trains run from Dresden every half hour to Bad Schandau/Schmilka/Schöna (S1). Takes less than 1 hour. Ferry across the river to Schmilka. Or, if you stay at one of the other places, bus to Bad Schandau - direction Hinterhermsdorf (#241).

Here is another place you can try:
www.ostrauer-muehle.de/index_2007_en.htm

They do speak some English. Beside the campground they also have dorms and a guesthouse with comfy rooms.
