London Severe Weather

British Airways is concerned about severe weather causing disruption in service. I am scheduled to leave Newark for London Heathrow Dec 20. Anyone with help in making a decision to cancel flight?

If it was me, I'd still go unless BA cancels and you have no option but to stay home. The weather in the UK has been fairly extreme, you could check the forecast but it doesn't help with whether or not they would close Heathrow. It's possible you may get diverted somewhere, another London airport or elsewhere in the UK or Europe, would that totally screw up your plans? If you cancel, would you lose your money?

Since we have no idea what it'll cost you (in money, time, inconvenience) to cancel- what can we say?

Are you going on vacation? Business? Did you pay for non-refundable accommodations? Do you have travel insurance to cover your out-of-pocket expenses? Are you a 'go w/ the flow' type who turns the unexpected into an adventure, or are you a uber-planner who wants things just so?

janis, I love that. I've always said that if we're lost, we're having an adventure!

Money is not a problem. What about conditions in London not just the airport?

London is fine now - trains are running on time from my station in east london (although some tube lines have severe delays due to weather) and there is a beautiful cover of snow. I am singing carols in Trafalgar Sq tonight.

Heathrow is apparently opening again as I type so things should be ok by the 20th if there is not another big storm (dont think there is on the horizon so far).

Go to the BA web site and see if THEY are canceling the flight. All BA flights from AMS to LHR are canceled again today. Only the Big Guy can predict the weather. Keep your bag packed and your pants on. You never know.
