London on a Sunday

We will be arriving early Sunday morning to begin our 6 day stay in London, what would be best to do on a Sunday?

Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Well, it might depend on the season.

And it might depend on what you are interested in.

The museums are all open. The stores are mostly closed. The hop on hop off busses are running. If it is your first trip to London, that is a good place to start.

Portobello Road is Saturday, not Sunday.

The hop on / hop off is a good choice. The ticket is good for 24 hours so you'd be able to use it on Monday morning after you collapse on Sunday.

Enjoy.

We were in London in May on Sunday and the hop on hop off bus was great. We spent the day at museums. However many restaurants are also closed so be aware come lunch or dinner.

Although I'll be at Old Spitalfield market myself next Sunday, I can also recommend going to Covent Garden market on a Sunday. It's bustling, centrally located, and you could always walk 1/2 a block to the Theatre Museum which is open and free. I was there last January and it was 50 degrees and sunny. enjoy

Hi
I don't know what your interests are, but one place that is open only on Sundays is Spencer House, near the Green Park tube station. It is a restored private mansion, really a miniature palace in my opinion. I thought it was just gorgeous, and well worth taking the guided tour which takes about 80-90 minutes.

Or any of the previous suggestions.

If you can't walk any more and your room isn't ready (or you just love music), Wigmore Hall has short "coffee concerts", around 10 or 11 am on Sunday morning (just N and W of Oxford Circus). I've been to several, and did this once on a rainy Sunday am when my room wasn't ready yet.

KAte..that is so interesting and something I hadn't known about! we usually try to find antique fairs on Sunday at 10 or 11 , but sometimes we come up empty! This will be another option! Especially wheen it is rainy or windy!

Thanks so much!

I also highly recommend the Wigmore Hall Sunday morning concerts. The ticket price include coffee or sherry and afterwards you can usually go into the green room and talk to the performers. Plus the Hall runs a small cafe on the lower level.

Another Sunday suggestion would be the open air art market along the Bayswater Rd side of Kens Gardens/Hyde Park.

You must go to "Speakers Corner" in Hyde Park.

Another vote for Speakers Corner. Sundays are the lively time for this part of Hyde Park. I went in November and had a great time. Met some new "friends."

If you fancy tasting our national favourite, Indian food, then head for Brick Lane in East London, where you will be spoilt for choice with restaurants and on a Sunday there is a street market too.

The Lion King is one of the few shows playing on Suday afternoon. That was the main reason I picked it, but it was my favorite of the 4 shows I saw.
