London Hidden Gem

Anyone interested in a fun place to go in London that is usually only attended by locals is in for a treat. There is a place called Portabella Market, and it was great unknown designer's stuff. Most is handmade and one of a kind. I went and bought AMAZING jewelry and purses...everyone is always complimenting me on it...definetly worth a look if you have some time. you will Not BE SORRY...bring lots and lots of pounds!

Assuming you mean Portobello rd - it's pushing it a teensy weensy bit to call it a hidden jem.

Welcome to Fodors daisy12885.

Do you mean Portobello Road Market? I did search "Portabella" just in case you had found some hidden gem - but nothing came up.

If you did mean Portobello Road - it is far from a "hidden gem attended by locals" Millions of people go there every year (and it often feels like a million are there on any given Sat.)

I am afraid that the idea that this is mainly locals is not quite correct. They even run tourist tours on Saturdays!

But to a novice London traveler, who typically sees Big Ben, the Tower, rides the Eye Over London, etc. this neat market area is a Hidden Gem - thanks daisy for alerting other casual London travelers to something, for them, different from the mega tourist sights.
