London Heathrow to Southampton

Hi -
Is there someone out there who can give me options from getting from Heathrow airport to Southampton besdies the bus from the airport. Do they run "mini buses" or is my other option a taxi. A price guide would be appreciated. I prefer to go directly from Heathrow and not have to get myself into London central to catch the train. Any comments appreciated.

I don't understand why are you rejecting the bus. The National Express coach is convenient, quick, frequent, comfortable and inexpensive.

I agree w/ ron. Not only is the coach the easiest - it is by far the cheapest.

Considering that the only taxi's you are likely to hail at Heathrow would be London black cabs, I think that the journey from the airport all the way to Southampton could be rounded to the nearest hundreds of pounds rather than tens.
I would agree that National Express is the best way to go if you refuse to go on the train via London.

If part of the way by bus is better than all the way for you, then you could take a bus to Reading and a train from there.

Thank you for your replies. To ron I would add that I am not "rejecting the bus" but as there are 3 of us I just wondered if other options may be not much more expensive than 3 bus fares. I know where I live 3 people in a "mini bus" door to door is no more expensive than the airport to city bus.

Val_S: If 3 of you were going into central London the math works for a limo/mini van. But LHR to the docks in Southhampton is more than 75 miles. The cab fare would make a down payment on a small house . . . . .

Well now that we understand the question... The National Express fare for three is £36. Clockhouse cars will drive you for £135 or more, depending on luggage. See http://www.clockhousecars.co.uk/Crui..._Transfers.htm
