Carlux thank you so very much. I was driving myself crazy looking for the info..and I am not even planning a trip there right now...!!

I will not forget the admonishment to reserve ahead. We left Cognac in the morning and planned to have lunch at Le Bareil. Foolishly we did NOT call ahead and walked in at 1:50pm. It was one of those moments when you could just feel that this was going to be an amazing eating experience..so you can imagine how disapppointed I was that they could not accommodate us that day. We were driving on to Albi so had no second chance on that trip but now that I have your information, I will head there next time I find myself in the area!
I should reiterate here that this looks like a very low-key place..not for someone looking for a fine dining experience or handsome decor..

Thanks again for posting the details. Luckily we were able to get a table at Le Table du Terroir so all was not lost! And even there, they made it clear that they would have preferred a reservation in advance.

I know you've made your choice, but I just wanted to say I loved our stay at Domaine de la Barde. Beautiful grounds, a great swimming pool, and a very good restaurant.

EK:

we also snatched St. Cirq's reco on La Table du Terroir...lovely country ambience and excellent food. From there we went to the caves nearby at Lascaux.

I may not have made a choice as to our accomadations. I have e-mailed L'esplanade in Domme but have not received a reply. I hope that they have someone minding the reservations--I understand they are closed from Nov until March and I hate to wait until March. By then trip advisor will probably sell all the rooms. I'll e-mail again next week if I don't hear from them.

Le Barrail sounds like agreat little restaurant--We'll make sure to make a reservation there. I hope everyone has a healthy and happy New Year and a prosperous year so we can all go back to France.
