Locals Eating : Budapest

Will you please recommend some places where locals eat meals and desserts if they are at separate locations that is fine, thank you.

After my visit to Budapest a few years ago I posted the following about restaurants...

There were certainly many people speaking Hungarian (though whether they were 'locals', residents of the city or visitors I could not say) at the first 3 places I named. Less so at the other 3 places which were in a busier area.

We were referred to Trofea Grill by our hotel, as we were asking the same question as you. We recommend it heartily. It was a great way to be introduced to well-prepared Hungarian food. Don't let the word buffet fool you...we were trepidacious until the first bite. The cooks grill the meat or fish to one's desire. More info if desired. The restaurant's about 2 miles from central Budapest.

This neighborhood restaurant was recommended to us and it seemed popular with locals. The name of it is in Hungarian and translates to The Little Cukoo in English. The atmosphere feels like a library-the decor includes cases filled with books. It is located a few blocks from the river(Pest side) and is walking distance from Margrit Island. Sorry I cannot name the street but it runs parallel to the river-about two blocks over. The food was really good and there were lots of creative vegetarian options.

For pastry shops I recently came across this article: http://visitbudapest.travel/articles...s-in-budapest/ I tried all of them, except Daubner, because it was a little far from where I stayed. Enjoy...

We visited Regős Vendéglő (Szófia utca 33) on a trip two years ago and loved it. It was a cozy place with wooden tables and lots of brick. There wasn't a lot of English spoken but everyone was very friendly and we were able to figure out the menu fairly well - though one of us thought we ordered a salad but got a plate full of pickles instead. If I recall it was cash only. I couldn't find a website but if you google it there are a few reviews out there for it.
