Charming, tasteful and not too expensive restaurants in Budapest!!
I'm leaving this Saturday to Budapest!! I can't wait!!
I'm going to Robbie Williams concert and with this occasion visiting a bit of the city! Can you please recommend me some good and tasted places to eat?? I don’t care much about the "design" of the place... I want to be first of all tasty and clean and friendly! Thanks a lot and a great holyday to all of you!!

We just returned from a fantastic trip, including Budapest. Go to Franz Liszt Square and you will find many eating places, quite attractive, with tables spilling into the park like setting that is the center of the square. We chose one, and had an excellent meal, one of our best in Budapest. The fresh fish was cheap and delicious. Several tables had a "reserved" sign on them, but they really weren't reserved. I think they were actually being saved for people who wanted to order dinner, not just drinks.
Articsoka was to be one of our choices, but when we arrived it was papered over and closed. I don't know if it is to reopen or not????

There's a little restaurant called Kis Rablo, located very near the Gellert Hotel.
It was recommended to us first by a Budapest resident we met on the plane over, and then by the hotel..and it was really good.
Have fun in Bufdapest!

If you can get to it (it's not in the central city), I recommend Trofea Grill. http://www.trofeagrill.hu/
It's a Hungarian buffet restaurant. I know, the word buffet brings horrible visions of stale, overcooked food. This place belies the image. The meat, fish, and fowl is cooked to order. They feature local items, but exceedingly well cooked. So if you tend to like to order one thing, I wouldn't leave the central city. But if you wanted to sample Hungarian cooking in lots of different items, this is the place. My favorite was a Hungarian fish soup. My pre-Trofea vision was that, since Hungary isn't near an ocean, that this would be some thin soup, tasting slightly sea-like. Wrong! Solid tasting, tomato and fish base, laden with paprika (which I thought would make it taste spicy, but instead was like sauteed red peppers). Neither my wife nor I was disappointed with any one dish there. My only regrets were 1)not asking for the recipe for the soup 2)not taking more advantage of the complementary wine. Friendly, courteous staff, spoke English.
