Lines for the Eiffel?????
Our first trip to Paris is fast approaching. I was wondering if the lines to see the Eiffel Tower are long. I really hate to spend valuable time in long lines. Does anyone have any info on how to avoid lines for museums??

I think if you get there first thing in the morning they arent too bad. We spent about 30-45 min in line. You can walk up the first set of stairs to the first post and then catch the elevator from there if you are up for a long climb

Agree about getting to the tower nice and early to avoid the crowds.
If you buy a "Carte Musee" from the tourist office, you can enter the Musee D'Orsay through the gift shop - and avoid the really really horrible queue.
I also found (in late April) that if you go to the Louvre in later afternoon then the queues are short (almost non-existent when I went) - AND if you go on late opening day (Wednesday?) you still have hours to spend in there.

The Eiffel Tower stays open quite late. So, it would have to be very late. We recently went at about 8pm and the outside lines were only about 15 minutes, but the inside lines to the second elevator, and the elevator down, were 45 minutes, and 20 minutes.
