It isn't that tragic to me, it wasn't that good and was overpriced. It was just a fire in that one place, it didn't affect the rest of the block, although it did destroy Pizza Capri on the side of it. The place was empty since it was in liquidation. I don't know if Pizza Capri spot had the same owners, but I suspect so as it was the same building, I think. I don't think Pizza Capri was owned by them, though.
Conveniently, the surveillance videocamera stopped working shortly before the fire broke out. I suppose there was insurance to help out Pizza Capri.

We have found a few apartments that we are considering for a month-long stay next fall. One is around the corner on Rue Clemenceau. kerouac do you know anything about the construction process? Will the area be under construction for the next year or is it such that the space is valuable and will be back in business shortly? I’m thinking that I don’t want to stay too close to a block that is torn up. We also found an apartment near Place Richelme. And I’m still hunting for one in the Mazarin District. kja did you like the location of your hotel? KarenWoo did your daughter live in Old Town?
There are sooo many apartments available in Aix-en-Provence!

lrice,
No, my daughter did not live in Old Town. Her apartment was on Cours Gambetta. A few times we walked to Old Town from her apartment, and it was about a 20-minute walk. We also drove sometimes, and I remember parking in a garage very close to Cours Mirabeau and Old Town. Cours Gambetta is residential. I don't remember cafes, restaurants, or bakeries close by. I think staying closer to Old Town, or in Old Town, would be better and more convenient for you.
