Le Sirene, Praiano
We booked a 5-night stay at this hotel based on recommendations from this board; however, it seems that several folks may think that Praiano and Le Sirene are not good choices for a 5-night stay? Any suggestions?
Thanks for your advice, in advance, Gary

Hi SN,
We spent a week at the Le Sirene and loved it.
Maria and Giancarmine are gracious, pleasant and very helpful.
There are both Orange and SITA buses to take you to Positano and other points on the AC.
What have you heard?

Thank you,
I was hoping that somebody would endorse our decision, which was based on "message board" input.
It is listed as a ** rather than ***, so we were somewhat concerned about the quality and beauty of the hotel?
Thanks again

You are welcome, Gary.
You might find the AC part of my trip report helpful:

I can't comment on the hotel La Sirene and the hotel we stayed at while in Praiano in August 2003 was wonderful, but I'm not sure I'd go back to Praiano given the choice. Although the location gave us ample opportunity to explore the Amalfi Coast during the day, we felt a little restricted at night. The village is pretty small with little to see after the first pass through. For first time visitors at that time, we couldn't get enough of exploring what was down each alleyway, around each bend. Instead, we spent our evenings on the balcony filling out our travel journal. I've since learned that the buses may run later than we thought, but the hotel included half board so that made for a late start to the evening.

Gary -
My husband and I stayed there on our honeymoon 2 years ago. It is beautiful. Our room overlooked the garden with lemon trees and the sea, and to the right was the town of Positano. We stayed there based on Ira's suggestion and are so thrilled that we did. One thing to note - it is down several flights of old stone stairs from the main road - so either pack light, or see if someone can help you with your bags!
Praiano is one of the towns where the busses stop - though there is not much in the actual town of Praiano, we found it to be a great base for us to explore other towns on the coast.
Enjoy your trip!

We stayed in Praiano in 2002 at a hotel calld Il Pino. It was fairly basic but comfortable and the view was wonderful. There was a good bistro close by - best grilled vegetables I have ever tasted. You need to be careful to find out exactly when the busses run - but if you manage it properly then it is a really good base. We were there for 3 days and I will never forget sitting on our balcony watching the sunset over the ocean as the boat from Capri or Positano cut a golden wake as it sailed to Amalfi.
Make sure you don't have a big wide car as the drive along the coastal road is VERY narrow - be prepared for traffic jams along there.

Good point, nora.
We had little difficult carrying the luggage down (it's not all steps), but did arrange with the hotel to have a porter carry them up.
I think that Le Sirene can arrange to have a porter carry your bags down for you, as well.
