Laragh House or Breagagh View in Kilkenny

I am trying to find a good B&B as base city for Kilkenny and Waterford sight seeing. Based on some posts and tripadvisor, I came down with Laragh House and Breagagh View in Kilkenny. (I would love to add the links for the two locations to help out does anyone know if that is allowed?)

I have never been in a B&B and I was wondering if anyone has additional opinions about either one or if you think I should research some more. Thanks in advance for your help. I will make sure I get that trip report out when I return from my Ireland adventure in hope to help others. Thanks again

Nuttela,

You might want to check out two other web-sites that have lists of places to stay. They are

Laragh House is nicer than Breagagh View in my opinion. But it is a guest house as opposed to a B&B. Alcantra is also an very nice B&B.

I may be wrong about this but I think Alcantra might be the guest house Michele Erdvig of Irelandyes says has started limiting their guests . Please, please don't take my word on this, check it out. I will say anything IrishEyes recommends I'd give very serious thought to. She's very, very good.

Good Luck, Joan

This may be a stupid question but what is the major difference between a guest house and B&B?

Also, thanks for the information.

Good question, Nuttela, I think it might be guesthouses have sitting rooms for sure and may be a little more up-scale. I know they cost more. I'll await an answer also.

Nuttela,
Guesthouses usually have more than 5 bedrooms, are more "upscale" and have more amenities ( washclothes, soap, shampoo), and more breakfast selections. Also, they are usually more expensive, but worth the difference of about 5 to ? Euros a night.

I stayed at Laragh House and it "felt" like a B&B. I didn't count the rooms. It was certainly nice.
