Lake Lugano : Budget hotel end of Oct
I am looking for a somewhere to stay on Lake Lugano for a max of 125€ a night for 2 (with private bath) for 29 Oct to 1 Nov. We will have a car and will need parking as well. I saw the Hotel Stella d'Italia recommended here but they are already closed for the season. The 2 places I have found so far are :
Hotel Dischma : http://www.hotel-dischma.ch/welcome.htm (Paradiso)
Continental Park Hotel http://www.continentalparkhotel.com/hotel.php (Lugano)
We will have the car, but it would be nice to be able to walk to dinner. Can anyone comment on either of these hotels or offer other suggestions ? It looks like Paradiso is 1.8km from Lugano, would it be more convienent to stay in Lugano?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I cannot comment on the quality of the two hotels you have listed but I can state something about their location.
The Dischma is in Lugano Paradiso which is an easy and very pleasant walk along the lake from Lugano itself. The walk is safe at all times and is illuminated. If you prefer not walking you can take the filobus which runs between the two.
The other hotel is close to the station - so if you are a light sleeper you may be disturbed by the noise of the trains. However, it is very convenient for reaching the town centre. A 10 minute walk down or if you prefer the funicular which runs right from the town centre to the station.

The Hotel Pestalozzi is very close to the municipal garden and many rooms have direct lake views. As this is low season, your budget (125 euros) is in line with their rates for doubles with private baths. From the hotel, you can walk to just about everything in the city and to the villages of Gandria and Morcote.

It has some free parking spaces (on first come, first serve basis) and the nearby municipal garages charge 25 francs.

Is absolutely wonderful. The restaurant over the lake is very good. It is top end for the budget but some of the smaller rooms match the e125 level. The location is quite isolated but you have a car and I would not venture further than their restaurant at night.
