Another vote for Hotel du Lac in Varenna. We hated leaving and could easily have spend a week on the lake. You can read my trip report (with photos) at http://travelswithdiane.homestead.co...5LakeComo.html

I think many area hotels have free parking. I know that mine, in Menaggio, offered this.

I've not stayed there but I have stayed at the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio and would recommend it to older travellers. Youngsters might find it a little too old style.
