Hotel Help in Bellagio

Looking for a good hotel recommendation for 2 or 3 nights on the lake with scenic views.
Any worthwhile recommendations would be greatly appreciated. It will be our first time there and we want it to be very special. Thank you Fodorites!!

Are you married to staying in Bellagio? If not, lots of other options that fit your specs.

http://www.albergometropole.it/ This is where we decided to stay this May, in one of the four rooms with a large terrace. We were told these were the nicest rooms. Good Luck.

LucieV: we have never visited Italy and are ending our trip in the Lake Region. Many have told us that Bellagio is the nicest town. Even nicer and more quaint than Lake Como. I am open to suggestions. Thanks.

RRT5, we were at Lake Como in October 2006. I enjoyed Bellagio, but chose not to stay there, in part because of the crowds (which are there for a reason: it is lovely!)

I would not stay in the town of Como, I agree.

We stayed in Lenno, and loved it. If you're one for "nightlife" of any kind, Lenno is not the place for you. It's tiny, with less than 10 restaurants, maybe 2 bars, and absolutely enchanting "passegiatta" opportunities. Right on the lake is Albergo Lenno, where we stayed and loved -- our bedroom window framed the lake like a postcard! There's another smaller hotel about 200 yards from the Albergo Lenno, more on the "rustic" side, but fine I'm sure. Just a few suggestions!

We stayed in Varenna at the Hotel du Lac. If you search, there are two Hotel du Lacs -- be sure you're looking at the one in Varenna. Varenna is across the lake from Bellagio. We had a large room with a large private patio overlooking the lake. Not cheap, but not at the high end either. The train stops in Varenna. Do a word search "Bellagio" and "Varenna" and you will find many posts to help you.
