Lagos Hotel Recommendations

Hi there,

I'm looking for an affordable but nice hotel in Lagos for October. Something in the $100 or less range and not far from town. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Lagos....Nigeria? You might want to repost on the Africa Board.

If you don't have good luck you might try Lonely Planet.

I'm guessing the OP means the Lagos in Portugal as this is the Europe board.

Hi!
We'll be in Lagos in Oct.(11&12), and I have booked the Hotel Tivoli Lagos for 74 euros a night. It received pretty decent reviews on tripadvisor.com, so you might want to check it out.

Newcomer please read my trip report, last week I spent two nights at the Tivoli Lagos and was less than impressed. Not to try to scare you!! 74 Euros is a good price though and about 50 Euros less than we paid so that might make it more appealing.

Thanks, Carolyn, for the info. Were the beds at least decent ( my hubby's main requirement)? We don't plan on spending much time at the hotel itself, but I liked that it had an indoor pool if the weather was iffy. I booked it quite a while ago, and, as you say, the price was good. Did you happen to do the Bom Dia boat tour of the grotto area?

Oops - just read your whole trip report, Carolyn, and it answered my question. I am really looking forward to that awesome scenery! Great report!

The beds were fine for us, a little hard but we like that. By the way it is two twin beds pushed together but each were made up separately. So you'll have to redo the sheets if you want to snuggle

Just found a deal on the Sheraton Algarve Resort in Praia da Falesia (outside Albufeira) - punch in the code SUN4EVER and scroll til you find 110 euros. It's a bit over budget but an excellent price - looks fabulous (with free buffet breakfast and bottle of port to boot!). My guidebook likes it, so now I'm staying one night here and one night in Lagos.

We stayed in the Marina Rio - it was about a 5 minute walk to Meia Preia (big long beach) and a 15 minute walk to Preia Dona Ana (the pretty beach like the ones you see on postcards of Lagos). The bed was decent, but the outdoor pool didn't look so great (we never used it because the beaches were so great).
I've heard the Bom Dia grotto trips are really fun - we opted for a kayak tour of the grottos and loved it.
